Our Weekend Adventures

This weekend Tony got off work early on Friday, and had all of Saturday and Monday off. This has been a great treat because lately he has been working every Saturday. We wanted to go out and about and see some of the sights around here.

We started the weekend off Friday night by going to a tiny little nearby town to get pulled pork sandwiches from a BBQ wagon that was reputed to be good. They were, and we also got to try Hushpuppies for the first time. Hushpuppies are fried balls of cornbread, a traditional southern food. We then drove down to the Ohio river and ate our dinner.

Anytime there are rocks and and water nearby, Tony cannot resist the urge to throw them in. Rylee is quickly picking up this habit too.

Saturday morning we decided to drive around downtown Louisville. We stopped to look at the worlds largest baseball bat in front of the factory where Louisville Sluggers are made. It is 120 feet tall.

The lighting in this picture is not very good, if you can 't tell that's Tony and Rylee standing in front of the bat. Next we went by the river and watched some big barges going up.

We drove around some more, looking at some big Victorian mansions. We stopped at a park designed by the same man who designed Central Park in New York to eat lunch, feed the swans, and splash around in a fountain.

Rylee was a little afraid of the swans, they were very aggressive and would try to bite if you didn't throw the bread fast enough.

Rylee got soaking wet in the fountain, luckily we brought extra clothes with us.

Next we went to a petting zoo where we saw ostriches, goats, sheep, peacocks, deer, llamas, and buffalo. Rylee loved seeing and feeding the animals.

Both kids were very tired and ornery (did you know that's how this word is spelled and should be pronounced or-ner-y not on-ry, see this link for reference
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ornery ).
Anyways, they were very cranky at the end of the day, but we had a lot of fun.

It is good to see you out and about having some fun. Life is too short not to make memories when you can.
